The Origin

Created by Gabriele Cirulli, a 19-year-old Italian developer, in March 2014 — built in a single weekend for fun. Within a week it had 4 million visitors.

How to Win

Slide tiles to merge matching numbers. 2+2=4, 4+4=8… keep going until you reach 2048. Every tile is a power of 2 — you need at least 11 perfect merges to win.

Strategy Tips

• Pick a corner and never move your highest tile away from it
• Build a snake pattern — biggest tile flowing down to smallest
• Avoid the move that displaces your highest tile
